I have an eclectic approach to counseling. I have an LPC with a BSc (Hons) in Psychological Studies in Singapore and an MA in Mental Health Counseling at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS). I am also a certified Illinois Domestic Violence Professional (ICDVP).
A typical counseling session may look like processing past hurts and messages you have learned and transforming them in such a way that brings healing and long-lasting change in the present. I will strive to meet you where you are at and plan treatment approaches based on your needs. My priority is the counseling relationship and the your well-being. I want my clients to feel safe, understood, and heard in our sessions. Therefore, I will ask for feedback every so often so as to know how the therapeutic relationship is progressing.
As a mother myself, I have a great desire to provide support to parents and families on how to better connect with children and adolescents. As a first gen in Illinois, I can understand the challenges faced of being raised in an immigrant family or even the conflicts that tend to rise from the miscommunications that typically happen in diverse homes. With that said, I do both individual and family therapy. If you are thinking of seeking support and finding ways to build on your strengths, reach out to me!
