Being a radical therapist has meant unlearning much of what I was taught about mental health and therapy. I believe that mental health concerns are an expected part of the human experience of today’s complex society, perpetuated by inequalities and systemic oppression. My clients are women or non-binary individuals from BIPOC or LGBTQIA+ communities. I strive to create an unconditionally affirming and accepting therapeutic space where you can feel comfortable to explore whatever you need to in order to heal and find your path to liberation. I work diligently to equalize the power dynamics within the therapeutic relationship, and I strive to act more as a collaborator that works with clients to identify their strengths, values, and beliefs. I utilize a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive systems framework to support clients in their journeys toward growth, authenticity, empowerment, and self-acceptance. I recognize the significant effects that organizational structures and cultural contexts can have on the health and wellbeing of individuals, and also how these structures can negatively impact our perception of ourselves.

As a therapist, I value the power of how we tell our stories. I believe that clients are always the expert of their own lives, and they also have the power to give or reconstruct meaning to their own experiences. I believe that clients already have the wisdom, skills, and abilities they need to overcome the problems they face, but just need a bit of support with how to apply these in a novel way that encourages lasting change. I love to help you dig deep, and am actively engaged in helping you observe and unlearn patterns that do not serve you. I am also action-oriented. This means that I believe clients must learn new patterns, try new things, and involve themselves in community experiences and/or relationships that may be untenably uncomfortable at first, with the hope that, as their life experience widens, they are able to find parts that bring them joy and fulfillment.

I am informed by Narrative Therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and Relational-Cultural Therapy. I am an AASECT certified sex therapist, and in this area I specialize in working with low sexual desire and desire discrepancy. My specialties are anxiety/panic, racial identity & belonging, women’s sexual health, and transracial adoption.
