Hello, I’m Dr. Thuydy Nguyen (pronounced “Tweety”). I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Sex Therapist, and I hold a Ph.D. in Clinical Sexology. I work with individuals and couples navigating intimacy challenges, trauma, shame, and relationship concerns.

Many of my clients come to therapy feeling conflicted. They want connection and healing while also carrying cultural expectations around family, silence, resilience, or not burdening others. When sexuality, mental health, or relational struggles are involved, these experiences are often layered with stigma, guilt, or fear of judgment. My work is grounded in helping clients unpack these patterns with compassion and cultural awareness.

My doctoral research focused on trauma-informed treatment for compulsive sexual behaviors, and I bring this perspective into therapy in a way that is respectful, nonjudgmental, and paced with care. I specialize in intimacy and sexual concerns, including shame-based patterns, compulsive behaviors, and relational disconnection.

My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, sex positive, shame-resilient, and culturally responsive. I strive to create a space where clients can speak openly about experiences that may have felt unspeakable without fear of being misunderstood, judged, or minimized. I work affirmingly with LGBTQIA+ clients, individuals exploring kink or alternative sexualities, and those in nontraditional relationship structures such as ethical non-monogamy or polyamory.

As a multicultural therapist, I recognize how culture, immigration history, intergenerational trauma, and family dynamics shape the way we relate to ourselves and others. Therapy with me is collaborative and intentional, with a focus on understanding patterns, strengthening communication, and building emotional and relational safety.
