I grew up in South Korea and moved to the United States for college as an international student, navigating cultural transitions, identity shifts, and the unfamiliarity of building a life far from home. For over 15 years now in Michigan, my experiences of adapting to a new country, becoming a mother without extended family support, and balancing career and family responsibilities have deeply shaped the way I show up in my work.
I am a counselor and coach with a background in communications and counseling, and I support individuals and families navigating identity, relationships, and life transitions. I understand the layered realities many Asian individuals face — generational expectations, bicultural stress, unspoken family pressures, and the tension between personal desires and collective responsibility.
I have worked extensively with students, first and second-generation professionals, and parents, helping them build emotional clarity, strengthen relationships, and move toward lives aligned with their values. My approach integrates practical strategy with deep listening, creating a space that feels culturally attuned, compassionate, and grounded. I believe healing happens through honest conversation, self-awareness, and intentional action.
