My counseling approach is body-centered with a focus on social justice and identities—especially race and culture. Within my sessions, I help clients cultivate the inherent wisdom of their body through artistic creativity and experiential explorations as well as compassion and humor.
As a cisgender, male-identified, voluntary immigrant from Japan who has experienced both high-level athleticism as well as a generally non-apparent disability (stroke in 2019), I hold vital that our identities and our contexts matter deeply. Just as our individual life experiences shape who we are, so do our ancestry, history, cultures, social upbringing, and the systems and institutions that surround us.
I’ve supported my clients navigate anxiety, depression, grief, and family dynamics; cultivating self esteem, confidence, autonomy, and expression; stress, burnout, imposter syndrome in high-tech jobs; challenges of multicultural existence (oppression and intergenerational trauma); impacts of intimate partner violence, abuse, and trauma.
I would be happy to hold a 15 minute free consultation if you have any questions. Please reach out!
