Hello! My name April, and I’m the founder of Sage Counseling Services, a Houston-based private practice! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor – Associate (#91835; Supervised by Leah Singer, #76924) who has dedicated my career to guiding individuals on their path to mental and emotional well-being. I am a Houston-native, biracial (Vietnamese, Caucasian), second-generation immigrant with a passion for mental health and human stories. My journey to the role of therapist started with a natural inclination towards empathy, was solidified by my own powerful experiences in the client’s chair, and was realized through a lot of hard work in both academic and clinical settings.
In my therapeutic work, I have had the privilege of assisting diverse individuals in navigating various aspects of their lives. I have worked with a wide array of clients and presenting concerns, including depression, anxiety, perfectionism, self-esteem, gender/sexuality, body image issues, & life transitions. My areas of expertise include Asian American populations, young adulthood, and identity development and exploration.
In sessions, we’ll laugh, cry, and celebrate the messiness of being human. My goal is to create a safe and confidential environment where you can explore personal challenges, foster resilience, and embark on a path to positive change and growth. I enjoy working with clients to modify their thoughts, emotions, & behavior to create a life they love, while celebrating their strengths & building meaningful connections.
Outside of my work as a therapist, I enjoy gardening, playing cozy video games, and cooking for my friends and family. Pouring time and energy into my hobbies helps me stay grounded, and nurturing a balance between professional dedication and personal interests allows me to find the joy in life.
