Hi, I am Charlette! I am a licensed mental health counselor(LMHC) based in New York City. I tailor my approach to meet individual’s unique needs. I believe therapy helps people deepen the understanding of themselves and their situation. I aim to facilitate my client embark on a journey of self-discovery, gain empowerment, and develop coping strategies to heal, grow, and thrive. I’m here to create a safe space for you to talk about beliefs, desires, and fears.
I practice from a multicultural, feminist, anti-oppressive, systems-focused perspective that is BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ affirming. I utilize an eclectic approach, combining psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, person-centered, and relational approaches to meet my clients’ various needs. I also incorporate techniques from CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and creative art in my work.
I have been working with children, adults, couples and families in addressing a wide range of issues, including sexuality, anxiety, depression, physical disabilities, chronic illness/pain, trauma, grief, life transitions, family conflicts, intimate partner violence, and relational challenges. I’m particularly passionate about providing support to clients seeking help with issues related to sex, sexuality, queer identities, open/poly relationships, and kink/BDSM.
I have also been working with the Asian community and immigrants. I fully understand how challenging it is to find a therapist who speaks your language and understands your culture. I believe our shared language, culture, history, and politics can provide you a safe space where you can find the best language to tell your story and express your feelings, as well as be understood.
I graduated from Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness program with a dual degree in LGBTQ+ Health, Education, and Social Services at New York University. I’m able to provide serivce to client reside in NY, NJ, and CT. I accept out of network insurance and self pay.
