I am an Indian-American psychiatrist who provides compassionate, socioculturally informed, and personalized mental health care, including therapy and medication management. My therapeutic approach is culturally affirming, warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental. I incorporate a variety of therapeutic techniques, and medications if appropriate, depending on the unique needs of the individual I am working with. I work from a strength-based lens, with a unique understanding of what it means to manage differing cultural expectations.
Individuals see me for a wide range of reasons, including exploration around identity; sociocultural issues, including immigration and stress from navigating cultures and cultural expectations; mood disorders like anxiety and depression; trauma and grief; among others. They have a desire to understand their own stories and forge a path forward, and are motivated to engage authentically and collaboratively in treatment. I nurture a space for self-reflection, vulnerability, and insight-building, where we can work together toward your goals.
I earned my medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. I completed my adult psychiatry residency training at a Harvard training program. I was a staff psychiatrist at Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) in the Primary Care Behavioral Health Integration clinic, where I was an outpatient psychiatric consultant embedded in multiple primary care clinics. I supervised residents in my clinic for several years. I also served as the Associate Training Director, and then Interim Training Director, for the CHA/HMS adult psychiatry residency program.
I have a deep appreciation for the complexities of human nature, and humility for all that we will learn in our work together. If this sounds like a good fit, please reach out by email, phone, or my website, and I’ll be in touch!
