Bio

Thank you for considering me in your search for a therapist!

I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist who strives to ensure your healing journey is on your terms. Everyone’s brain works differently, and my aim is to really get you so we can reach your goals in ways that make sense for you.

My skills come from a combination of empathy, personal experience, education, and professional experience. I was born and raised in South Africa, which is where I obtained my undergraduate degree, and am lucky to call myself a Canadian citizen now. I have extensive experience beyond my current practice working with people in crisis or dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, and/or identity confusion/life transitions. I also have experience in career counselling, particularly in situations where you’re wondering whether you’re following the right path in life.

I offer:

  •  Psychological assessment and testing for adults
  • Individual counselling/psychotherapy for adults
  • Couples counselling

For psychological assessment, I offer adult testing and evaluation for autism, ADHD, trauma, and several other mental health disorders, as well as a comprehensive assessment with written report provided.

For individual counselling, I integrate modalities based on what will likely work the best for you. I draw heavily from person-centred therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which I like to call CBT for people who care why we do what we do. It encourages psychological flexibility and has a multitude of tools to help you achieve equilibrium from within your frames of reference. I am also trained in Motivational Interviewing, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and Internal Family Systems.

For couples/relationship counselling, I work from the Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) framework, which (in my opinion) goes deeper than Gottman and achieves more lasting results and increased self-knowledge, again because you’ll understand why things are the way they are, or have been following the pattern they have.

What makes me different:

  • I genuinely care about my clients’ wellbeing and you’ll never just be a case I’m working on – in fact, my whole deal is to work with you, not on you
  • Candid compassion – my clients have my unwavering support and that means no coddling and no BS while still being encouraging and supportive
  • Evening and weekend availability
  • Your own personalised, private resource portal you can access outside of the therapy hour
  • Evidence-based therapy customised to your unique needs
  • Neurodiversity affirming – I integrate a strengths-based approach to support you in leading a more fulfilling life based on the structure of your brain, not based on what society expects of you
  • If you book an in-person appointment, you get free parking in the attached parking lot and a fully accessible and private office
