Natalya Vann, Registered Psycchologist

Sex/Gender: Female
Pronouns: She / Her
Ethnicity: Filipino/a
Bio
I am a Registered Psychologist and have experience working in the human services field for the past 11 years in various capacities, which has helped prepare me to work with a diverse population. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families, with varying mental health diagnoses, including ADHD, autism, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), addictions, and trauma. I gain perspective and insight into the clients’ lived experiences by hearing their stories and recognizing their capacity to be the experts in their own lives.
My approach to counselling stems from a systemic approach that is both strength-based and client-centred. My preferred therapeutic modalities include ACT, CBT, The Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Psychodynamic, Client-Centered and Solution-Focused. I believe in a holistic approach that could be achieved through collaboration and relationship-building.
Being an immigrant from the Philippines, I am aware of and have experience with the cultural differences that Filipinos and other minority cultures are subjected to. Providing counselling in Filipino (Tagalog) lessens the barriers, such as fear and apprehension.
