Director of Programing | Applications due August 5th

The Asian Mental Health Collective (AMHC) seeks a Director of Programming. 

The Director of Programming supports the Executive Director by overseeing administration, programs, and volunteer services. 

The Director of Programming collaborates with the Executive Director to develop, execute, evaluate and manage all current and future programming initiatives of the organization. They will play a critical role within the team to improve internal systems with an eye toward future strategic needs and budget realities, and function as a sounding board and strategic partner. This position is responsible for keeping AMHC programs running smoothly, so the Executive Director can focus on thought leadership, fundraising and external concerns. The Director of Programming will support an inclusive culture built on trust and integrity. This will be a part-time (30 hrs per week), salaried position at 0.75 FTE.  Work applicants must be resident in the US and have US work authorization.

The position reports directly to the Executive Director and supervises a team of 2-3 employees, and numerous contractors and volunteers.

ABOUT US

Drawing from the collective wisdom of our experiences across the Asian diaspora, the Asian Mental Health Collective (AMHC) is dedicated to cultivating a robust ecosystem of mental health care by and for the Asian community that weaves together clinical support, virtual community spaces, and peer support for providers, fostering personal and generational change. We are a small but growing national 501c3, first founded in 2020.

Core approaches

  • Lotus Therapy Fund and online Therapist Directory: We fund and connect Asian people with culturally informed clinical services to increase access to care. 
  • Support Groups: We build wide-reaching virtual community spaces to foster conversation, connection, and peer support around mental health. 
  • Support for Providers: We cultivate connections between Asian mental health providers to break isolation and build solidarity.
  • Psychoeducation: We educate our community on mental health issues and socio-political conditions Asians face through approachable storytelling, online content creation, and community dialogue.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Provide strategic direction on all AMHC programming, including the Lotus Therapy Fund, Support Groups, US and Canada therapist directory, Subtle Asian Mental Health Facebook Group, and educational content
  • Work with the Lotus Therapy Fund team and program leads, and oversee relationships with consultants and/or volunteers engaged in executing program deliverables
  • Provide supervision for programming team (2 employees, numerous contractors, volunteers)
  • Cultivate good relationships between AMHC and partner organizations as it relates to programming
  • Oversee program evaluation, including ensuring necessary program metrics are collected, and recommend program changes or additions where necessary
  • Make recommendations for new programming, based on trends, research, and community needs assessments
  • Support the Executive Director in implementing internal operational procedures related to program management and overall agency functions
  • Collaborate with marketing and technology teams to ensure AMHC programs are effectively publicized and represented
  • Partner with the Executive Director to maintain program budgets and timelines to ensure projections remain on track
  • Support programmatic grant reporting, including expenditures and program impact data
  • Regularly present program performance status to Executive Director and Board of Directors

Other Requirements

  • Must be willing to attend meetings in the evenings, on the weekends or out of town events and conferences.
  • Must be willing to travel as needed.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALITIES

Required

  • 3+ years of experience developing and executing programs in a high performing team  
  • 2+ years of organizing, project & people management in a non-profits or government or social service organizations
  • Understanding of issues related to mental health and strategies employed to address related issues
  • Experience working in or engaging with multiple Asian American communities and other diverse communities
  • Experience supervising multiple staff members, building strong teams, and supporting a healthy and inclusive organizational culture
  • Strategic thinking skills with ability to apply areas of knowledge to extrapolate content for use
  • Exceptional project management skills with ability to set priorities, develop and execute coordinated programs of work and prescribe the processes needed to achieve the required objectives
  • Experience setting and measuring outcomes, and identifying process & program improvements
  • Highly self-directed; ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Initiative-taking, strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Ability to thrive with ambiguity and drive the achievement of organizational objectives in an environment of constant change

Preferred

  • Clinical experience working with clients in a counseling setting
  • Experience with grant-writing and fundraising in a nonprofit setting
  • Excellent public speaking and writing skills for a wide range of audiences
  • Understanding of and/or experience working with the impact of trauma in immigrant communities
  • Experience managing a volunteer remote workforce

WORK ENVIRONMENT

AMHC is incorporated in Texas, with an entirely remote team. The Director of Programming is expected to travel occasionally to attend meetings and/or conferences.

Compensation: The rate of pay is $45/hr for 0.75 FTE (30 hours per week). We provide a benefits package including a medical, dental, vision stipend, generous therapy stipend, 403(b), and paid vacation/sick time. In time, this position may transition into a full-time co-Executive Director Role.
