Bio

My specialty is working with people with anxiety, depression, and a history of interpersonal trauma. Having worked with many clients in academia and the arts, I have expertise in perfectionism, self-esteem, and issues around family of origin, identity-related experiences, and sense of belonging.

I have extensive training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and existential-phenomenological psychology, and I often work with those who had disappointing experiences with prior therapy, or those who seek to go further and deeper.

The experience of living between cultures and languages, and of the “third culture,” is of particular interest to me. I am additionally interested in how the external sociopolitical forces intersect with our innermost experience of ourselves; I pay special attention to each client’s unique lived experiences related to gender, race, sexual orientation, and their bodily experiences.

My goal is to help clients understand how their mind works, digest difficult experiences, and develop the capacity to build and maintain enriching relationships with others and themselves. A compassionate and deep understanding of self allows one to live a fuller and more satisfying life, not bound by old patterns. We will be listening to the mind and body at a deep level, including aspects that are not readily available to us. Understanding the mind in this way can be transformative.

I hold a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and am licensed as a psychologist in DC, Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. I have 24 years of clinical experience, with 13 years in private practice. I offer online psychotherapy in the greater Washington DC area (DC, Maryland, Virginia), and PSYPACT states, authorized by PSYPACT.

PSYPACT stands for the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact. It is an agreement between certain states that allows authorized licensed psychologists to practice telehealth across state lines without obtaining a separate license in participating states. This map shows you the 42 participating states: https://psypact.org/mpage/psypactmap
