Bio

Hi there! I am Aubrey Nishikawa (she/her), an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT 114638) located in Los Angeles, supervised by Jenny Moon, LCSW #77266. I am a fourth generation Japanese American and I am passionate about supporting the mental & emotional wellness of adults, teens, and the AAPI community. I work from a relational, attachment based approach to help clients befriend their inner world through curiosity, connection, and compassion. I believe cultivating a safe therapeutic relationship with clients can help calm the body’s stress responses and create helpful shifts in our interactions with the self & others. I strive to provide a warm and authentic presence and my hope is to help folks feel seen, heard, and a little less alone on their journey.

As a fourth-generation Japanese American woman, I value the intersectionality of my clients’ identities and work to provide a safe space to explore identity, experience authenticity, and honor oneself. I have a special interest in exploring intergenerational trauma, cultural identity, and racial trauma as it pertains to the AAPI community. Japanese American (JA) mental health is especially close to my heart and I am particularly passionate about the mental health and wellness of the sansei+ community (3rd generation and beyond).

Therapy can be a beautiful and stretching experience; as we increase the capacity to experience feelings such as sadness, disappointment, or anger we also increase our capacity to experience joy, love, and hope. It would be an honor to journey with you in this process, wishing you lots of care and kindness!
