Welcome
You want to feel securely connected to others in your life. You want to feel empowered to navigate through life’s obstacles, with someone reliably in your corner. You want to trust in your own value and heal from being hurt. You deserve to feel seen and heard for all that you bring to this world and accepted for the myriad of identities that you inhabit. I would like to support you in your journey.
My Focus
I specialize in working with people around trauma, anxiety, ADHD, relationships (of all structures), sexuality, gender, and multicultural identities. I am especially passionate about supporting queer people of color and individuals from immigrant communities. I also enjoy helping clients build self-compassion, improve communication skills, and get more in touch with their emotional experiences. Couples and partners who want to deepen their relationships, build empathy and understanding for each other, and explore their attachment dynamics are also a joy for me to work with.
My Approach
My therapeutic approach is grounded in attachment theory. Through our work, we will explore the dynamics of your important relationships (past and present) and use that information to help you build security within your relationships. As a relational therapist, I will take an open, authentic, and engaging approach to understanding your strengths, your needs, and your values. I also utilize modalities such as emotionally focused couples therapy, narrative therapy, psychodynamic therapy, ACT, and internal family systems therapy.
My Philosophy on Therapy
I attribute my practice to principles rooted in queer theory and intersectionality. My personal philosophy of non-binary, expansive thinking steers a lot of my work. I am also committed to learning from thought leaders in transformative justice, abolitionist, and decolonizing movements to inform my therapeutic practice. These are not topics we have to shy away from in our work together. I will work with you to claim space for yourself and build your own narrative.
Credentials & Experience
Before arriving at Practical Audacity, I worked in residential milieu programs for adolescents and emerging adults and as an individual/family therapist for youth and caregivers with complex trauma histories.
More About Me
I am a child of immigrants and I am fluent in Mandarin Chinese. I’m building my clinical proficiency in Mandarin, but I am comfortable conducting bilingual therapy where both Mandarin and English are spoken. I am also a new dog parent, which is bringing me lots of joy. Look out for cameos from Taro!
I hold identities and values that are important to me beyond what I have listed here, so if you ever have questions about me, I am happy to engage in thoughtful conversation around them.
