In 1995, my family and I immigrated to Calgary for a brighter future amid uncertainty in Hong Kong. Overcoming challenges, my parents, who initially worked multiple jobs and pursued continuing education, now happily enjoy retirement. Witnessing their journey inspired me to assist newcomers facing similar hurdles.
With a Bachelor’s in Sociology, I delved into how cultural norms impact people. After nine years in HR, recruiting and settling foreign workers, I transitioned to a career advising role to better align with my mission and values. While helping skilled immigrants, I realized the need to address internal barriers, which led to my Master’s in Counselling Psychology and obtaining CCC and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) credentials.
Beyond work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our three young children (two boys and a girl, ages 3, 6 and 8). We love exploring our community by participating in various events within and around our city, discovering indoor and outdoor parks and connecting with nature through camping, kayaking/paddleboarding and hiking. We also love attending family and friends gatherings within the city and visiting those across Canada and around the world. I am a Scouter for the Beavers in Scouts Canada, and attend mass and volunteer at Church whenever possible. I am fluent in Cantonese and have a basic understanding of Mandarin. I look forward to connecting with you and learning from your unique strengths and values.
