Bio
Feeling “stuck” or even “paralyzed” in your career, daily life, or relationships (in areas even beyond romantic) are often why people seek me. My culturally open approach means we will understand how your past and present relationships, ideas, and feelings shape who you are today. I believe talk therapy can lead to deep and lasting changes, and medications, when thoughtfully prescribed, can lessen the intensity of pain and suffering. With my medical and therapy resources, we will create an approach that holds space for healthy discomfort and personal growth.
One of my specialties is relationships: the relationship you have with your parent, sibling, coworker, partner, and yourself. If individual therapy helps us explore how you think and feel with me, imagine the possibilities of what we could learn about you if there were more relationships in your treatment. Group therapy is an increasingly sought after approach that augments (and sometimes replaces) individual therapeutic work. It can help us locate ourselves in our moods, our loneliness, and the unhealthy patterns that keep us stuck.  To learn more about my virtual groups, you can read about them here.
Some practical information about my practice: As of 10/19/23 my only openings are for group therapy. Occasionally, I have spots open for individual therapy, couples therapy, or medications. I encourage people to consider the potential of group therapy so that we can work with more facets of your issues and self. My practice is fully virtual, and I accept UHC UMR that is offered to employees of Mt Sinai Hospital in NY. I am otherwise out of network and offer an invoice at the end of the month that people can take back to their insurances for reimbursement. For a list of questions to ask your insurance regarding out-of-network benefits, please visit https://teresaleemd.com/payment/.
By giving people multiple ways to look at their lives, we can co-create an individualized journey together. Your readiness to discover answers to your “stuck points” will drive treatment, and I will be in step with you, guiding and reflecting on the journey before us. If you have arrived at my page, I believe that you have taken a crucial step in this journey. Now, let’s figure out what in your life is not serving you to be your fullest self.
