Bio

I am a third generation Japanese American licensed psychotherapist in Los Angeles since 2011, formerly from New York City. I serve a wide variety of clients by ethnicity, race, age, generation. Many of my current clients are in their 20’s and 30’s discussing a wide variety of challenges. Many of my Asian American clients discuss generational differences with their parents and extended families and I work with individuals, couples and families about longstanding issues as well as current differences. My specialty is relationship building, working on boundaries, understanding limitations, and mutual acceptance. I have a lot of experience working with LGBTQ1 clients and couples. I also work with addictions. I am familiar with the tech and entertainment industries and am able to help clients navigate work relationships on the job, burn-out, lay-offs and job satisfaction. I am very committed and excited by the work and clients often say that I ‘get them’, ‘I never thought of that,’ ‘this changed my life,’ etc. I see every client as unique, multi-talented and rich in life experience. I am not diagnosis-driven or believe that much in psychotropic meds. I give homework almost every session and encourage honest feedback as to the value of treatment. I encourage trust and for every client ‘to be themselves’ in therapy and that’s when the most progress is made in a deep and lasting way.
