Who am I?
I am an Asian (Chinese), cis-gender, bilingual drama therapist. I am also a Provisional Registered Drama Therapist (P-RDT), LCAT-LP in the state of New York, an ACE-certified personal trainer, and a quasi-artist. I hold a masters degree in Drama Therapy from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from University of California, Los Angeles. My training over the years have deeply impacted me to believe in the therapeutic potential of creative expression and embodied experiences. Through drama therapy, I witnessed the transformative power of theatre to foster resilience, enhance well-being, and facilitate cross-cultural communication.
What is my goal/mission?
My goal is to create supportive spaces where individuals can explore their identities, heal from trauma, and build stronger community connections through the arts.
Who are my clients?
I work best with clients that are open to creative approaches or those who find their thoughts difficult to emerge merely through verbal expression. My clients are people of marginalized groups. My clients are those who need space for their voices. My clients have internal strength that they could not recognize in the moment. On my clinical journey so far, I have encountered young children and their families, adolescents and young adults, female groups, mixed-race clients, and elders at nursing homes. Issues that we worked with include grief, significant life-transitions, trauma, identities, family systems, and peer connections.
What can I offer?
I can offer therapy in both Mandarin and English. I specialize in grief, life transitions, trauma, and anxiety. My treatment is largely trauma-informed and person-centered. I use appropriate mediums of art, movement, and stories through a trauma-informed lens. During the treatment, I will walk along with you to re-express, re-experience, and re-shape your personal stories.
