Bio

I think there is no single approach to therapy and that variations in therapy approach are important. I believe that everyone has their unique intersectional identities, and every individual seeking therapy is facing challenges that are specific to them. Because we are all different, it is critical that cultural sensitivity and competency are considered, and the approaches are tailored to meet the clients’ unique needs and circumstances.

I consider myself bicultural, bilingual, and identify as a woman of color. As an Asian woman, international student, and worker myself, my cultural identities are constantly being challenged and changed to varying degrees. I understand and conceptualize clients and their struggles through a cultural lens and incorporate clients’ values and perspectives into the healing process to foster clients’ autonomy in therapy. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults from diverse backgrounds, who struggle with ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and cultural identity issues. I work with a compassionate and eclectic approach that integrates aspects of the family systems, multiculturalism, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and other creative modalities.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst, and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process and I invite you to start this journey with me. I offer bilingual counseling in both English and Mandarin. In my free time, you can find me painting and building LEGO sets!
